DOCTOR OF THE MONTH

Don Milione, D.C., D.A.C.B.O.H.
Certified Occupational Health Consultant

Dr. Milione is a professional musician and chiropractor, he has performed in musical ensembles since 1966. His primary instrument is the Hammond B-3 organ and his enjoyment of music has evolved into a collection of classic and contemporary electronic keyboards. In the past as a full time performer, Dr. Milione was signed to several record labels and is an experienced recording artist. While working his way through chiropractic college, Dr. Milione rebuilt acoustic and electronic pianos. While performing technical support for Stevie Wonder in 1980 Dr. Milione had first-hand experience with on-the-road stressors of the professional musician and road crews. Recently Dr. Milione has had the privilege of participating in international ensembles and performing the inspirational music of Procol Harum in various international venues, the most recent of which was in Wuppertal, Germany in 2013. Dr. Milione’s performance with Gary Brooker and Dave Ball of Procol Harum were once in a lifetime experiences that he will always cherish.

Dr. Milione has been in active practice for 30 years and is a professional musician. He is a Certified Occupational Health Consultant who specializes in ergonomics and applied biomechanics. Did you know that repetitive cumulative trauma can cause neck, back, and/or joint pains especially to the performing artist? In order for the performing artist to excel in their performance, Dr. Milione identifies these painful areas and provides effective therapy in order to decrease the pain. He uses traditional examination protocols, such as a case history, physical examination, diagnostic imaging, and sometimes neurodiagnostic studies in order to correctly diagnose your painful condition.

An assessment of the artist's performance biomechanics by Dr. Milione can also provide the basis for an appropriate treatment plan. Dr. Milione uses natural, non-invasive therapies such as trigger-poin therapy, physical and manipulative therapies in order to decrease pain and restore normal joint function.

Task specific stretches and/or exercise are demonstrated and recommended to the patient. Dr. Milione treats each patient as if they were a member of his own family. This is made evident when patients who are in pain are seen immediately and receive immediate therapy in oder to decrease their pain.

Recently, Dr. Milione was certified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration as a Certified Medical Examiner in order to perform medical qualifying exams for our nation's commercial drivers. Dr. Milione has an empathy for the performing artists regarding the stessors of the profession on and off the road. He welcomes you into his practice.  Contact him at his midtown Manhattan (NYC) office:
