Repetitive Strain Injuries is written by the author of this web page, Dr. Timothy Jameson. The book provides many non-medical alternatives to the treatment of repetitive injuries and educational material to understand the cause and effect of repetitive strain upon the musculoskeletal system.


Repetitive Strain Injury by Pascarelli, MD and Deborah Qer. Although this book examines the plight of the computer user, it is still considered one of the finest books available on the topic of repetitive injuries (just behind Dr. Jameson's of course). It does offer the "medical model" viewpoint for treatment of these injuries, so buy Dr. Jameson's boook first to learn how to avoid drugs and surgery.


The Repetitive Strain Injury Recovery Book by Deborah Quilter. This is another excellent source which examines more of the psycho-social aspects of living with repetitive injuries, such as coping with disabilities. Highly recommended.

The Athletic Musician: A Guide to Playing Without Pain by Barbara Paull and Christine Harrison. This book offers advice on ergonomics, exercises, and injury prevention for the musician.  


This book is aimed equally at student musicians, practicing musicians, and instrumental and vocal teachers, and it aims to help them to begin to understand how and why their bodies function as they do when they perform and also how they may avoid professionally related illness or injury and achieve the highest standards of performance. The principal author, Dr Jaume Rosset i Llobet, is a medical expert and an internationally acclaimed researcher on the subject. He is the Director of a Centre for the Physiology of The Arts in Terrassa, Catalonia, one of the few clinics in the world to which musicians, dancers and performing artists can go for assessment and treatment.

The Musician's Way: A Guide to Practice, Performance, and Wellness by Gerald Klickstein. Gerald Klickstein is a professor of music at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and is a classical guitarist.  This is an excellent book to enhance your practicing ability, performance ability, health and wellness, and creativity.  Dr. Jameson highly recommends it!

The Musician's Survival Manual  This is another excellent book written by an M.D.-musician by the name of Richard Norris. It describes many of the different forms of musician's injuries and offers helpful hints on playing changes and instrument alterations of help relieve strain.
